SERGE at HAU Bujumbura
The WHM Burundi team is focused on the faculty needs at the HAU campus in Bujumbura.
This team is being led by Randy and Carolyn Bond. Randy is a medical professor with 30 years of full time faculty experience (University of Virginia and University of Cincinnati/Cincinnati Children's Hospital). His fields are pediatrics, pediatric emergencies and medical toxicology. In addition he has worked clinically in Kenya and Malawi and consulted for the WHO in Egypt and Nigeria. He is a former board member of WHM. Carolyn has an advanced degree in early childhood education and specialization in reading difficulty. She is certified as a teacher of English as a foreign language and is teaching English at HAU.
George and Susan Watts are raising support to arrive in Bujumbura with their 4 children in 2015. George is completing a PhD in business strategy at the Grenoble Ecole de Management, previously having taught at King’s University College, a Christian liberal arts university in Canada. He will focus on entrepreneurship in the MBA program. Susan will be engaged in home management and personal ministry.
We are looking for humble, adaptable, Christian believers who want to change the world through university education. We are specifically looking for those who could teach civil engineering, business, English as a foreign language (TOEFL certificate required) or teach medicine/surgery/dentistry/pharmacy or practice in a teaching role (MD/DDS). Interested persons with other departmental backgrounds are absolutely encouraged to inquire. Depending on the assignment and duration of commitment, a knowledge of or willingness to learn French is necessary for teaching the academics. All teammates would need to become employees of SERGE and be willing to raise personal support. Support will consist of a modest missionary salary and living/ministry expenses.
